Because it has few symptoms, osteoporosis is considered a "silent disease." Fortunately, scientists have developed screening tests to detect osteoporosis in its early stages. Bone density testing is an important tool in the early screening and diagnosis for osteoporosis.
At Baylor, we offer traditional spine and pelvic bone density testing, as well as full body scans and extremity scans for people with limited mobility. Also, spine specialists at Baylor provide intermediate vertebral assessments (IVA), which scan the bone density of the spine and detect spinal fractures.
