Baylor Medical Center at Irving offers support groups and educational classes for those recently diagnosed with cancer or those in recovery. A few of the options include:
I Can Cope®, co-sponsored by the Baylor Irving Cancer Center and the American Cancer Society, is a free educational series for adults facing cancer – either personally, or as a friend or family caregiver. I Can Cope® classes help dispel cancer myths by presenting straightforward information and answers to your questions related to cancer. Classes are held at the Baylor Irving Cancer Center from 6-8 p.m. and there is no charge for attending. For more information or to register, call 1.800.4BAYLOR.
This free American Cancer Society facilitated class assists individuals with cancer look good, improve their self-esteem and manage their treatment and recovery with greater confidence. Held on the fourth Monday from 2-4 p.m. at the Baylor Medical Center at Irving Cancer Resource Center, 1901 N. MacArthur Blvd., Ste. 120. Call 972.579.4300 for more information.
Meets the first Thursday of each month, Noon to 1 p.m. Topics focus on the challenges faced by caregivers and what resources are available to help. Call 1-800-4BAYLOR for more information or to register.
Meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Chix with Stix is a knitting and crocheting class for patients who wish to participate in a class to learn a craft for relaxation. Call 972.579.4300 for more information.
