Inpatient Locations & Programs

Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation - Frisco is the region's newest inpatient rehabilitation hospital dedicated to the care and treatment of persons with brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, amputation, neurological disorders, orthopedic conditions and general rehabilitation needs. 

At this 44-bed center, patients will benefit from the experience and expertise of a team of rehabilitation professionals who share one goal: to help each individual recover the skills, strengths and function to optimize his or her recovery. 

We offer the comprehensive care, advanced treatment and technologies to best address our patient's complex medical, physical, emotional and vocational challenges, along with the training and education that help them and their families transition to life ahead. 

Our physician-led rehabilitation team includes:

• Physiatrists (physicians who specialize in physical medicine and rehabilitation)
• Rehabilitation nurses
• Physical, occupational, speech and recreation therapists
• Psychologists and neuropsychologists
• Dietitians
• Case managers

Other professional, administrative and support staff, including pharmacists, radiologists and consulting medical specialists.

We understand that each patient brings his or her own specific needs, goals and expectations to the rehabilitation process, and we tailor treatment to meet them. Patients participate in therapy six days a week with a minimum of three (3) hours of therapy Monday through Friday.

Stroke Rehabilitation

At Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation - Frisco, patients receive specialized and individualized medical, nursing and therapy services that support the earliest possible return home. Our Stroke Rehabilitation Program integrates evidence-based treatment and advanced technologies to help patients:

• Improve speech and swallowing

• Maintain bowel and bladder integrity
• Manage spasticity

Brain Injury Rehabilitation

Our brain injury rehabilitation program targets the individual's physical and functional limitations, cognitive deficits and any behavioral, emotional or interpersonal difficulties. In a safe and supportive environment, our brain injury specialists provide dedicated care that includes:

• Cognitive and behavioral therapies
• Physical and occupational therapies
• Speech and swallowing therapies
• Spasticity management

Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation

Through individualized care, advanced treatment and technologies, we help enable individuals with spinal cord injury to overcome the complex challenges they face and provide a range of services that includes:

• Respiratory management
• Spasticity management
• Bladder and bowel training/management
• Wheelchair seating and mobility services
• Vocational training
• Community reintegration and support services

Amputee Rehabilitation

The amputee rehabilitation specialists at Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation - Frisco focus on helping individuals who have lost a limb regain function and mobility and deal with a range of complex psychological, emotional and social issues. We work closely and collaboratively with each patient to:

• Improve strength, coordination and endurance
• Apply proper wound care and limb management
• Manage pain
• Evaluate and select an appropriate prosthesis
• Build confidence in the use and maintenance of a prosthesis 

Neurological Rehabilitation

For individuals with Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, Guillain-Barre Syndrome and other neurological conditions, we offer an integrated program of care that helps to optimize:

• Strength, coordination, balance and mobility
• Medication management
• Use of assistive devices
• Functional independence

Orthopedic Rehabilitation

We provide expert care to individuals with a wide range of orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions, including hip fractures, joint replacement and multiple trauma, as well as sports and work-related injuries. Our interdisciplinary team helps patients to:

• Restore strength and mobility
• Increase function and use assistive devices
• Implement adaptive techniques and strategies
• Resume daily activities as safely and independently as possible

General Rehabilitation

For individuals who experience general debility as the result of an illness, injury or other medical conditions, Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation - Frisco offers specialized care and treatment to help patients:
