About Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation

After a catastrophic injury or debilitating illness, individuals of all ages require expert care, compassion and encouragement to overcome the complex medical, physical, cognitive, vocational and social challenges their injuries or conditions present. Choosing the right medical rehabilitation hospital can make a world of difference.

Here at Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation, our care teams -- including physicians, nurses, therapists and other rehabilitation professionals -- are specialists in your specific diagnosis.  They are experts in their fields who, simply put, improve our patients’ lives.

Since 1981, the Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation team has helped people overcome serious disabilities and return to full, productive lives.  Known for our intense and highly specialized programs, our interdisciplinary clinical teams partner with patients and their families to design and implement treatment plans to achieve each patient's unique goals.

This is just one reason why Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation has received repeat recognition as one of the country’s top rehabilitation hospitals in U.S. News & World Report's annual "America's Best Hospitals" report . . . and been designated by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research as a model system for the treatment and care of patients with traumatic brain injuries.

In early 2012, we expanded from two to four inpatient hospitals. There are now two locations in Dallas, one location in Fort Worth, and another location in Frisco. With 92 patient beds, our largest hospital is also our oldest. It is located at 909 North Washington in Dallas. Our Northwest Dallas, Fort Worth and Frisco hospitals have between 42-44 beds.

To support a full and lasting recovery, it’s important to ensure continuity of care for our patients.  Within the Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation (BIR) care network, patients benefit from two levels of rehabilitation:  inpatient and outpatient. Upon discharge from one of our four hospitals, a patient can continue his or her BIR experience in one of 42 outpatient locations.

Inpatient Programs & Locations

Treatment teams at Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation specialize in traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke and other orthopedic and neurological conditions.

When patients first arrive in our hospitals, they have experienced life-altering change. They often wonder, as do their families, what’s next in terms of function, independence and overall quality of life. Our goal is to comfort each and every patient by assuring high-quality care, then delivering on that expectation.

After creating individualized treatment plans for each patient, we get to work. With four medical rehabilitation hospitals located in Dallas, Frisco, and Fort Worth, Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation offers this level of high-quality care throughout the region.

You won't see an absent-minded glance at your chart when your physiatrist strides into your room. For our physicians, nurses and therapists, you are top priority. And we tailor your rehabilitation program around your goals, your abilities and your support system.
