Mental or behavioral health is important to one's overall health and wellness. Early signs and symptoms of a psychiatric illness or addictive disorder may not be recognized until they begin to disrupt your everyday life. A behavioral health crisis can be frightening and confusing for you and your family. When you don't know where to turn, we are here to help.

 

Baylor treats approximately 2,000 adults (18 years of age and over) per year for psychiatric and/or addictive disorders. Our treatment programs effectively combine cognitive-behavioral therapy groups, education groups and medications to help you learn new skills for a healthy lifestyle.

 

We are here when you need us

Behavioral Health Access Service is ready to help you and your family. Our qualified mental health professionals are on-call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week to provide services at no cost:

 

  • Provide assessment and crisis intervention
  • Identify significant problems and behavioral issues
  • Recommend the best service to treat the problem
  • Work with your physician to coordinate admission to one of our inpatient or outpatient programs

Baylor's medical staff includes board-certified psychiatrists who admit adults with a primary psychiatric or chemical dependency disorder to our inpatient or outpatient programs. Under your psychiatrist's care, our professional staff work as a team with you and your family to define your treatment goals.

 

Only a physician can decide if you need to be admitted to a hospital for psychiatric treatment. Whether inpatient or outpatient, Baylor provides an environment of acceptance, caring and structure where healthy change can take place.
