Visiting a Patient

  • Visitors are good medicine for patients, so family and friends are encouraged to visit. Baylor University Medical Center strongly believes in patient and family centered care. Our goal is to give you access to your loved ones in their time of need as much as we possibly can. We understand the healing process will include the love and support from you - the family! We do not limit visiting hours, however please keep in mind that our staff may need privacy or space at certain times for patient care.  Areas of high risk, such as the intensive care units, are open to families, but please take caution in these areas as there is more complex medical equipment. And remember, your loved one needs time to recover.

General Visiting Regulations:
  • Smoking is prohibited everywhere on the Baylor campus, including sidewalks and parking areas.
  • People with colds, sore throats or any potentially contagious diseases should not visit patients.
  • Please consider the patient’s condition when deciding the length of your visit.
  • Visitors should maintain a quiet environment.
  • Visitors may be asked to leave the room during procedures.
  • Children must be accompanied by an adult. A patient’s nurse determines if children may visit depending on the patient’s condition.
