(DALLAS, Oct. 24. 2008) – Two Baylor Health Care System hospitals, THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano and Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine, recently received The Pathway to Excellence™ designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
This nationally and internationally awarded honor identifies health care organizations that create work environments where nurses can grow and succeed. The award substantiates the professional satisfaction of nurses and identifies best places to work.
For an organization to earn this distinction, the organization must successfully undergo a thorough review process that documents foundational quality initiatives in creating a positive work environment as defined by nurses and supported by research. These initiatives must be present in the facility’s practices, policies and culture. Nurses in the organization verify the presence of the criteria in the organization through participation in a confidential online survey.
Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine is a 233-bed, full-service, fully-accredited not-for-profit hospital, serving residents in more than 20 cities throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano is a full-service, 68-bed dedicated heart hospital joined by a sky bridge to Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano. The separately-licensed facility offers cardiovascular diagnostic, interventional, and surgical capabilities as well as cardiac rehabilitation, wellness and prevention services.
In September 2008, Baylor Health Care System was named among the 100 Best Places to Work in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare Magazine.
For fiscal year 2007, the faith-based Baylor Health Care System will report $390 million in community benefits to the Texas Department of State Health Services.
