– Scott Peek, chief operating officer of Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine, is the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council (DFWHC) 2009 Young Healthcare Executive of the Year. The annual award honors youthful professionals who display key characteristics and abilities of future healthcare leaders.

Scott joined Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine as its chief operating officer in 2008. He has been employed with Baylor Health Care System since 2001, including service as president of Baylor Specialty Hospital and Our Children’s House at Baylor. Peek graduated from Texas A&M University in 1996 and began his career with Cooper & Lybrand, where he gained exposure to the healthcare industry for the first time. He received his MSHA and MBA from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2002.
The DFWHC Board of Trustees created the Young Healthcare Executive of the Year Award in 2005 to recognize contributions of young men and women in the field of healthcare administration. The Board serves as judges, voting on nominees put before them. To be eligible, a nominee must be 40 years of age or younger and employed in health services at an executive level by a DFWHC-member hospital.
Peek will receive the award during DFWHC’s Annual Awards Luncheon on Oct. 28 at the Arlington Convention Center. The luncheon’s keynote speaker will be Joe Scarborough. Stewart Stimmel LLP will be the presenting sponsor, with CampbellWilson LLP and Perot Systems serving as gold sponsors.

Total community benefit was calculated in accordance with Texas Health and Safety Code Chapter 311.
