Becoming a Volunteer

It's never been easier to become a volunteer at Baylor.

Learn about the opportunities Baylor has for volunteers:

Adult Program - For adults 18 and older
We invite you to join us as a volunteer at Baylor Health Care System. Once we receive your request to volunteer, we will call you to schedule an interview. This will allow us to get to know you and learn about your interests, skills, and availability. We'll also have the opportunity to tell you more about our programs and what areas are a good fit for your experience and skills.

Junior Program (Summer Only) - Volunteers between ages 15 and 17
During the summer break, high school students can volunteer at Baylor facilities. Volunteering provides a wonderful opportunity for career exploration, as well as fulfillment of community service requirements. Summer dates vary by location.

What Our Volunteers Do

There are opportunities to volunteer in many different areas of our hospitals. Volunteers provide important services, so we make every attempt to match interests, skills, and availability with hospital needs.

You can volunteer in one of the following areas:

• Hospital Support
• Family Support
• Staff Support
• Community Support
• Specialty Programs

As a volunteer at Baylor, patients, families, and staff appreciate your time and service. From answering phones to comforting families during a traumatic event, our volunteers make a significant impact on our patients and the community. As a volunteer, your duties might include these areas*:

• Providing comfort, encouragement, and support to patients
• Assisting staff on nursing units
• Delivering mail and flowers to patients
• Greeting patients
• Assisting in the gift shop
• Sponsoring fundraisers
• Awarding scholarships
• Participating in health fairs
• Assisting with clerical support
• Performing general office duties.

Volunteering Requirements

We welcome your support

The purpose of our volunteer organization is to promote and advance health care to patients and their families at Baylor. We enthusiastically welcome individuals of all backgrounds and abilities who wish to volunteer.

Applicants will be asked to submit information and meet certain qualifications. Each Baylor location has its own requirements, so the volunteer process may be different at various facilities. Requirements may include a general health screening, background check (in accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act), submission of personal references, and patient care training (if the nature of the volunteer service requires patient contact).
