A Cornerstone of Baylor's Rich Heritage
Behind Baylor's superior reputation are strong, caring leaders. Together, community volunteers who comprise Baylor's board of trustees and executive leadership contribute their wisdom, insights, and expertise to ensure that Baylor is responsive to community needs while remaining financially strong. Baylor Board Chair David Walls and Baylor President and CEO Joel Allison are leading Baylor into the next century. We also are grateful for the service of volunteers on the boards of all of Baylor's medical centers in Garland, Grapevine, Irving, Plano, Waxahachie, Dallas, and Fort Worth. Their tireless service has brought Baylor to new levels of excellence.
Joel Allison was named president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Baylor Health Care System in May 2000, after serving as senior executive vice president and chief operating officer since 1993. Allison's wealth of knowledge and expertise stems from a wide range of high-level administrative positions at various hospitals in Texas and Missouri. He received a bachelor's degree from Baylor University in Waco in 1970 and a master's degree in health administration in 1973 from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. Before coming to Baylor, Allison was CEO of Driscoll Children's Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas.
